Naseem and Shaheen on Fire

Colombo, July 24: Bowlers Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah were star performers as Sri Lanka were bowled out for paltry 166 while electing to bat first on Day 1 in the Colombo Test, starting Monday.

Pakistani pace duo comprising Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi spewed fire against the Sri Lankan batters.

Sri Lanka lost seven wickets in a trice, as Naseem Shah claimed the prized scalps of Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne and experienced duo comprising Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal. Shaheen Shah Afridi also took an important wicket of Kusal Mendis.

There were two run outs as well, both executed by Shan Masood.

For Sri Lanka, only Dhananjaya de Silva offered resistance with a crafty innings of 57 runs before he too fell to the guile of spinner Abrar Ahmed. Dhananjaya de Silva had scored a hundred and a fifty in the two innings of the first Test in Galle.

Pakistan won the first Test of the 2-match Test series by four wickets in Galle. Stylish left-arm batter Saud Shakeel scored a match winning double hundred in the Galle Test.

Sri Lanka were reduced to 136-8 in the 39th over and then folded out for 166 on Day 1 of the Colombo Test.
