UAE registers a comfortable win by 7 wickets in the second T20I

19 August, Dubai: The Kiwis led by Tim Southee are in a state of shock, as the United Arab Emirates team sealed a thumping win by seven wickets against top ranked side, New Zealand, in the second T20I played in Dubai.

The UAE skipper Muhammad Waseem scored a quick fire fifty; Aayan Afzal Khan, a 17-year old spinner, weaved magic by taking three wickets while Asif Khan played a crucial knock of 48* to secure a comfortable win for the team with 26 balls to spare.

Earlier, New Zealand batted first to put 142/8 on the board in the allotted 20 overs.

The Kiwis were 27/3 in the fifth over before Mark Chapman launched a counter punch with a 63-run knock in 46 balls.

James Neesham contributed with 21 runs from 17 balls.

In response, the UAE lost their opening batter Aryansh Sharma for a duck but the other opening batter and skipper Muhammad Waseem played brilliantly to score 55 runs in 29 balls, laced with three 6s and four 4s.

Vritya Anand made 25 in 21 balls while Asif Khan scored 48* in 29, laced with a six and five boundaries.

The UAE chased the required target (143) in 15.4 overs and won the game comfortably.
