New Delhi, 11 August: Asaduddin Owaisi, Member Indian Parliament from Hyderabad and AIMIM chief, on 10 August in his firebrand speech in the Lok Sabha launched a scathing attack against Indian Home Minister Amit Shah and also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking in favour of the no-confidence motion against Modi, Owaisi said, “Our Home Minister (Amit Shah) was talking about (the) ‘Quit India’ (movement) yesterday. If he knows that the word (phrase) ‘Quit India’ was coined by a Muslim, he will not use this word anymore. I want to say that the kind of politics you are doing will harm the country. I want to ask the prime minister if Hindutva is more important than India.”

Owaisi said he doubted whether Shah knew the fact that the name of the movement was coined by a Muslim. He advised Shah to use the ‘Quit India’ slogan for the Chinese PLA; “say, China, Quit India” and “say, Monu Manesar, Quit India.”

In his speech, he also raised the issue of communal violence in Nuh, Haryana, saying that “an atmosphere of hate was being created in the country and Muslims were being targeted in Nuh.” He expressed serious concern over the issue of a railway force officer gunning down three Muslims inside a moving train, seeking to know what kind of atmosphere prevailed in India.

On the issue of Manipur, MP Owaisi said that women were being raped there and law and order had collapsed, but why wasn’t chief minister N. Biren Singh removed? The AIMIM chief also voiced his concern over the border issues and advised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government to speak up on the matter and “throw China out of the country”.
