Mohammad Nawaz’s Thrilling Cameo of 14 in 4 balls in Last Over
Pallekele, August 07: Sizzling talent Babar Azam’s century (104 runs in 59 balls) helped Colombo Strikers seal a thrilling win against Galle Titans by 7 wickets with a ball remaining.
In pursuit of 189 runs from 20 overs, opening batter Babar Azam forged a 111-run partnership with fellow opener Pathum Nissanka in 12.3 overs. Nissanka made 54 runs in 40 balls, laced with five fours and a six.
Shamsi claimed the wicket of Nissanka but Babar continued to dominate the innings. His 104-run knock contained eight fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 176.
Colombo strikers lost Nuwanidu Fernando and Babar Azam in quick succession, leaving Mohammad Nawaz to score 14 runs from the last 5 balls. Nawaz didn’t disappoint one bit as he hit two doubles in two balls followed by a six and a four to register an emphatic win with a ball to spare.
“I was trying to build a partnership and play long and deep. Today, it was a much better wicket,†Babar Azam said at the presentation ceremony after being adjudged player of the match.
Azam’s century was his 10th in the T20 format.
