India Floods- Crocodiles Make Way into Residential Areas in Uttarakhand

Ganga swells in Haridwar and crocodiles appear

Dehradun, July 20: Flood threat looms large over northern India, as incessant rains have made water bodies swell in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and even in New Delhi.

According to ground reports, people in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district have seen crocodiles making their way into residential areas. The water levels in the famed Ganges are above flood level and its tributaries are overflowing.

Several media reports say that the region’s Forest department has been busy catching the crocodiles. It is a new scare.

Media reports and eyewitness accounts have said that about a dozen crocodiles have been caught from the populated areas in Haridwar.

Additionally, a special team of the forest department has been put on alert to capture the reptiles.
