Jaiswal and Gill Pulverise WI
Florida, 13 August: India’s opening pair comprising Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill stitched a partnership of 165 runs in 15.3 overs in pursuit of a 179-run target, winning the fourth T20I against West Indies by 9 wickets.
Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 84* runs in 51 balls while Gill made 77 runs in 47 balls. Young batter Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 7* after the fall of Gill.
India won the game by nine wickets in 17 overs, thus levelling the 5-match T20I series 2-2 with a match still remaining.
Earlier, Shai Hope played brilliantly for West Indies against India in Florida.
After winning the toss, West Indies chose to bat first and made 178/8 in the allotted 20 overs, thanks to two impressive knocks by Hetmyer and Hope.
Hetmyer made 61 runs in 39 balls.
Mayers and King again failed to lay a solid foundation but Shai Hope launched a counter offensive with a knock of 45 runs in 29 balls, laced with three fours and two sixes.
For India, Kuldeep Yadav bowled really well by taking two important wickets of Nicholas Pooran (1) and skipper Rovman Powell (1).
Arshdeep Singh claimed wickets of opening batters Kyle Mayers (17) and Brandon King (18), and Shimron Hetmyer.
India scored 179 runs in style to level the five-match series 2-2, with a game to go.
