Gurugram Violence— Fresh Violence, Shops Vandalised Amid JSR Slogans

A violent mob attacks shops owned by a particular religion

New Delhi, August 01: Violence continued in Delhi NCR’s Gurugram and Badshahpur areas as a violent mob comprising over 200 individuals targeted shops owned by members of a particular community.

Video footage shared on social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook, shows several shops and properties owned by a particular community targeted and burnt down completely.

The shops damaged in mob violence included a restaurant, a ration shop, and shops of a chicken dealer and scrap dealer.

All shops belonged to one community while the individuals in mob were shouting ‘Jai Shree Ram slogans’.

According to eyewitnesses, the fresh incident took place on Tuesday afternoon just 15km from New Delhi in the Badshahpur hamlet. The area comes under Delhi NCR.

Meanwhile, the situation in nearby Haryana continues to be tense.

At least five people were killed and 70 others, including policemen, were injured as a mob in Haryana’s Nuh district tried to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession. There were reports of stone pelting in Haryana while several cars were set ablaze and damaged.

Haryana Police have registered 40 cases and arrested more than 80 suspects in connection with the fresh spate of violence.
