36 Pilgrims Die On Their Way to Pilgrimage
July 24, Pahalgam: In the first three weeks since the Amarnath pilgrimage commenced on July 1 this year, about 300,000 pilgrims have visited the cave, the Lieutenant Governor-led administration in Jammu and Kashmir said.
According to an official statement, at least 3,07,354 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the cave till July 23. The LG administration claimed in a statement that it has made accommodation, food, water, healthcare and transport facilities for the visiting pilgrims.
Meanwhile, at least 36 pilgrims have died on their way to the pilgrimage this year either due to low concentration of oxygen at the high altitude or cardiac arrests. The Amarnath pilgrimage will officially culminate on 31 August 2023.
The statement also said that the administration has constructed a hospital with a 100-bed facility for the treatment of sick pilgrims.
