Poonch, J&K: Forces have started a major search operation in the dense jungles of the Bata-Doriya area in the Pir Panchal region after a suspected militant attack there resulted in the killing of five Indian Army personnel and injured one.
The officials said on Friday that “The entire area has been cordoned off while drones and sniffer dogs are being used to sniff out†the armed militants that might be hiding in the area.
Details emerging from the Poonch area also say that a high alert has been sounded in the twin frontier districts of Rajouri and Poonch. Officials said a close vigil is being maintained along the Line of Control.
After Thursday’s deadly attack, regular traffic on the Bhimber Gali-Poonch road was stopped. Residents were advised to go to Poonch via Mendhar.
Moreover, officials informed that NIA team will visit the site of the attack for inspection.
Five Army personnel who lost their life in the attack belonged to a Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit deployed for counter-militancy operations.
