Srinagar, 07, Dec: At least four people are feared dead after the vehicle they were travelling in rolled down a deep gorge at Zojila Pass in Ganderbal district in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

Officials reported that the ill-fated vehicle – Zylo bearing registration number JK07-1876 – was en route from Kargil to Sonamarg when it skidded off the road near Panimatha Zojila.

Upon receiving information about the accident, the army, police, and local residents reached the site to launch a rescue operation. All the deceased are reported to be residents of Kargil, and their identification is yet to be confirmed.

Earlier on Tuesday, four men from Kerala died after their cab fell into a ravine near Zojila Pass.

The accident occurred when the tourist group were returning to Srinagar from Leh in two cabs. As the road was slippery due to snow, the driver of the cab carrying seven of the 13 tourists lost control at a turn near Zojila Pass on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway and fell into a ravine. Apart from the four men from Kerala, the cab driver — who hailed from Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district — also died.
