Kupwara, May 03: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have killed two militants in the Machil area of northern frontier district of Kupwara.
According to JK Police, in a joint counter militancy operation launched by Indian Army and regional Police, two militants were killed.
Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed killing of two militants in a tweet shared on its official Twitter handle. It further said that search operations were to continue.
Earlier, the police tweeted that the counter-militancy operation in Machil was going on and that further details would follow.
It is suspected that militants were trying to sneak in from the Line of Control when their movement was sighted by the security agencies. At the LoC, there is low visibility due to poor weather conditions.
