Relief for Imran Khan: Court Grants Him Protective Bail

May 12, 2023

Islamabad, May 12: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister and former international cricketer Imran Khan on Friday got a huge relief as he got protective bail in the infamous Al-Qadir case.

Islamabad High Court granted two weeks of protective bail to Khan, a cricketer-turned politician, in a corruption case filed against him by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

This relief comes to Khan a day after the Supreme Court called his arrest “invalid and unlawful” on Thursday.

The Islamabad High Court upheld Mr Khan’s arrest but a three-member Supreme Court bench had declared his detention “illegal” and ordered his immediate release on May 11.

Khan arrived back at the Islamabad High Court in a secure convoy and walked into the building.

Khan was unceremoniously ousted as Prime Minister in April 2022.

The NAB issued an arrest warrant against him in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
