Srinagar, May 3: Jammu and Kashmir has formally filed a chargesheet against Gujarati conman, Kiran Jagdish Bhai Patel.
According to information available with NewsnViews, Patel has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The charges include “cheating and hatching a criminal conspiracy against the JK administration by posing as a top official in the Prime Minister’s Office.â€
The Jammu and Kashmir filed chargesheet against the Gujarat-based conman in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar. This particular case comes under first information report (FIR) number 19 of 2023 registered against Patel at the police station in Nishat.
Apart from cheating and impersonation, Patel has been charged for hatching a criminal conspiracy under Sections 419, 420, 468, 471, 170, 120B of IPC and Sections 3, 5 of Emblem and Names (Prev of improper use) Act, 1950.
Patel hails from the Ghodasar area of Ahmedabad. After his several visits to Kashmir and enjoying VVIP security protocol, Patel was finally arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police in March from a five-star hotel in Srinagar for posing as Additional Director (Strategy and Campaigns) Prime Minister’s Office, New Delhi, and availing requisite perks, including a bulletproof car.
