New Delhi, May 02: Delhi Capitals won a crucial match against Gujarat Titans in the lucrative Indian Premier League on Tuesday, as the David Warner-led outfit successfully defended a paltry total of 130.
Being reduced to 23-5, Capitals’ middle-order batter Aman Hakim Khan made 51 runs to help his side to reach 130 in 20 overs.
Veteran Ishant Sharma and youngster Khalil Ahmed bowled superb spells, as both claimed two wickets, each, while conceding 23 and 24 runs respectively in their quota of four overs.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals were stunned by a superb spell of bowling by Mohammad Shami who took four wickets while conceding only 11 runs. He removed Capitals’ top order, claiming prized scalps of Phil Salt, Rilee Rossouw, Manish Pandey and Garg. He won player of the match award but his team failed to cross the line.
Titans’ skipper scored an unbeaten half-century (59) in vain as Capitals managed victory by a slender margin of 5 runs.
