Virat Kohli Makes 2082 Runs, 5 Tons, in Last 50 ODIs; Babar Averages 67, Virat 46
London, 31 August: Babar Azam is currently the world’s number-one-ranked ODI batter and is bossing the game across three formats. No wonder that in the last 50 ODIs since January 2019, the Pakistani skipper has amassed 3086 runs, laced with 11 centuries and 19 fifties, at a healthy batting average of over 67 runs per innings. His career batting average in the ODIs is 59.47.
On the contrary, India’s star batter Virat Kohli has made only 2082 runs in his last 50 ODIs since March 2019. In these matches, Kohli has hit five centuries and 16 fifties at a batting average of 46.
This means that Babar Azam has scored 1004 more runs and hit six more centuries than Virat Kohli in the last 50 ODI matches. Moreover, Babar Azam also averages 21 more runs than Virat Kohli’s batting average in the same number of matches since 2019.
At present, Babar Azam has 5353 runs in only 104 ODIs, 102 innings, with 19 centuries and 28 fifties. Babar Azam created history by reaching the 5000-run milestone in less than 100 ODI innings. He achieved the feat in 97 ODI innings while it took Virat Kohli 114 innings to do so.
At the end of the 2023 World Cup in India, Babar could easily rewrite history by becoming the fastest batter to score 6000 runs in less than 123 ODI innings, a record that Hashim Amla currently holds. Babar has 20 ODI innings left to score the remaining 647 runs to do so. With his career batting average of 60, it should take him 10-12 more innings to achieve the feat.
