Rajouri Encounter: Third Indian Army Soldier Succumbs, Toll 5

Rajouri, May 6: The death toll for Indian Army has risen to five, as the three wounded soldiers too have succumbed to injuries, according to officials.

Earlier, security officials said that a search team that was sent to the spot successfully established contact with a group of militants, reportedly hiding in a forest cave.

“The area is thickly vegetated with rocky and steep cliffs,” the Indian army said in a statement on Friday.

Officials informed that the three soldiers, who were critically wounded during the encounter on Friday morning, have succumbed to their injuries at Command Hospital, Udhampur.

“With the fresh casualties, the toll has reached to five”, the officials confirmed.

“Several senior officer of army and police are at the site to monitor the ongoing operation”, they added.

Internet Suspended in Rajouri

Mobile and Internet services were suspended in Rajouri district of the Pir Panchal region on Friday when five Indian Army soldiers were during a fierce encounter with the hiding armed militants in a cave.

Officials said on May 6 that on specific information about the possible presence of armed militants in the Kandi forest in the Rajouri sector, a joint operation was launched in the province.

According to Indian Army officials, additional teams from the vicinity have been directed to lend support to the search party.

The hiding militants are apparently group trapped in the forest area.

Rajouri, May 6: Mobile and Internet services were suspended in Rajouri district of the Pir Panchal region on Friday when two Indian Army soldiers were killed and four others, including an Army officer, sustained injuries during a fierce encounter with the hiding armed militants in a cave.

Officials said on May 6 that on specific information about the possible presence of armed militants in the Kandi forest in the Rajouri sector, a joint operation was launched in the province.

Security officials said that a search team that was sent to the spot successfully established contact with a group of militants, reportedly hiding in a forest cave.

“The area is thickly vegetated with rocky and steep cliffs,” the Indian army said in a statement on May 6.

There have been injuries to the Indian Army personnel, and the injured were immediately removed to the Command hospital in Udhampur.

According to Indian Army officials, additional teams from the vicinity have been directed to lend support to the search party.

The hiding militants are apparently group trapped in the forest area.
